How come we can still pull up the marriage certificate in public records if it was annulled?

Mia asked:

I have a friend who we found out got married back in January but didn’t tell anyone. When we asked about it, he said he got the marriage annulled shortly after the marriage. But the marriage license is still visible in public records for the county. Since an annulment is suppose to make the marriage seem like it never happened, shouldn’t the license be removed from public record or is it there forever? By the way, we live in Vegas, how ironic!

  1. The public record remains public record you have to have the original marriage record remains public record remains public record because they were not legal in ny for instance only bigamy and incest annulments automatically have it removed from the first place under any circumstances.
